Era Bastards Exodus #1-4 in no particular order
Era Bastards Exodus II (2021)
Bullet fragment lodged in my spine,
Easy for an experienced Surgeon to find.
But to remove the fragment means certain death,
And if left, my blood will soon infect.
I am refugee of war-torn land,
Where little distinction lies between beast and man.
I even recognized my attacker
but only from off the Telly,
He pushed a snub pistol hard against my belly.
He asked for my car and all my money saved
So I gave it to him, but he shot me anyways.
Era Bastards Exodus IV (2021)
In the far and exotic wastes of Chernobyl
Baby blue granny smiths are plucked by tourists
From the branches of apple trees, purely anecdotal.
And in the doldrums of Hiroshima,
Beelzebub enjoys a Margarita.
Era Bastards Exodus III (2021)
Era Bastards are very bad at saving money,
They’ll lose an entire house and a job just to learn from it.
Many have graduated onto confidence and clarity,
Fell deeply in love and started their own families.
No longer alone and what used to be is no longer a home.
Holding back her tears because she believes,
Her assailant doesn’t deserve them.
Under pretenses which make it illogical,
For an Era Bastard to find purpose.
The parents were never really there,
Even if they were really there.
My Daddy’s Daddy oppressed my Daddy who oppressed me.
Would you believe it if things were exactly as they’re supposed to be?
A singular generation in its conscious form overgrown in its own mold.
All of our wisest elders devoured by worms,
A bit like how the phoenix rose from the pile where the ashes had burned
And in the face of cliches and meaningless words.
The end and thus the new beginning…
Era Bastards Exodus; Movement of the people.
Era Bastards Exodus (2021)
Stuck on the wood like Jesus,
I mean Weed not penis,
Nothing against either, either,
Poached for my pelt like the Bengal Tiger
Or summokinn like the Towers!
It feels like it’s been hours since my shower but my hair ain’t
Even dry, I’m so surprised! I can’t help but smile and now I’ve gotta get to work
Hopefully my day is drastic. In the car I jam Janet Jackson and remember her
In that movie with Tupac and Maya Angelou although I wasn’t even in utero yet.
I know it was torn apart by the critics
Just like you can completely pull a pork butt with two forks
Once its smoked for eight hours,
Go ahead and take a long deep breath, gently pressing on the
Diaphragm,
The Recovery Dharma tells us desire is suffering…
Fixer Upper (2021)
It’s far too hot to be out for long
A gallon of water for every hour out they say
Or suffer the consequences of sunstroke and skin cancer
Like the leathery corner dwellers who live from backpacks and shopping carts,
An old man perched his wheelchair
At the intersection of Reciprocity and Precocity
He wore a carboard sign ‘round his neck
That hung over his belly
His eyes peered blindly in the direction of a hard, engine-like breeze
I didn’t have a dime to spare, it’s rare.
Grandma Spoils (2020)
Grandma cries for her pacifier,
Out of Joy when mother remembers,
To dip the thing in sugar,
But mother can be so forgetful,
And she calls my words,
So regretful,
As grandma breaks down into a glistening mess,
Like saving a candy closed in a child’s fist,
The same woman who used to tell my sister and I,
Stories from the war and the refugee camps,
Where she attended Highschool and learned,
To speak English well enough to become,
Educated and meet grandpa but now he’s
Gone and She’s sucking the sugar off a pacifier,
While mother applauds her,
The sight makes me wish I was high once more
And grandmas crying tears of joy with such ease,
That it must’ve been hard back then,
But it doesn’t much matter now,
Soon she’ll be gone too.
Freestyle Session #1678
The lightest feather ever
From the world’s most delicate bird,
In kindly unfettered weather
As weightless as our words.
Against skin bare
Upset by gooseflesh
As heavy as a stare,
From Meduso’s and Medusette’s
Who are barely even there.
